KIRUPA Newsletter #1: We're back...and it is CSS Animation time! 🚀
WE MEET AGAIN!
Hi, *|USERNAME|*!
It's been a while since you and I probably crossed paths. The last time was probably when Flash development reigned supreme and HTML development was something you did if you didn't study hard enough in school. The times certainly have changed.
What hasn't really changed is KIRUPA - the site and forums that you have been a part of for a really REALLY long time. If you haven't visited in a while, you'll be in for a surprise. Gone is the focus on Flash and ActionScript. Instead, there are a bunch of articles, a couple of books, videos, new forums, and a whole lot more content focused on explaining the mysteries of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a clear, concise, and (hopefully) witty way!
Oh, there is also this newsletter that you'll see periodically where I will cover front-end design and development topics. Our first one is going to be all about animations and how you can do some really clever things with just a few lines of CSS or JavaScript. I figure it is a great topic to kick things off and bridge the old with the new.
Lastly, before I step away and leave you to it, I would love to hear from you on things I can do better, topics you'd like me to write about, and more. Don't be shy! The easiest way to contact me is via Twitter, Facebook, or by posting on the forums (just like it was the year 2004)!
Cheers,
Kirupa :-)
LEARN: ANIMATION
No matter where you look - whether it is an app, a website, video game, mall kiosk, etc. - the UIs you interact with are no longer static. They are fun and lively. A large part of why has to do with this thing called animation.
The following articles will start off with the basics and quickly get really technical and really awesome really quickly:
There is actually a whole lot more content than what you see here, so for the more comprehensive list and some sweet examples, go to the Create Animations in CSS section on KIRUPA!
BOOK : Animation in HTML, CSS, and JS
If you want a comprehensive 500+ page tome on web animation that also doubles as a totally awesome paperweight (unless you get the Kindle edition), you definitely want to give this a shot.
